Biological Oceanographer

Alexis Floback is a biological oceanographer whose research explores marine microbial ecology and biogeochemical cycling in the open ocean.

Her work focuses on how microbial communities interact with environmental variability to shape nutrient dynamics, productivity, and ecosystem function.

Through participation in SUBSEA and Hawaiʻi Ocean Time-series cruises, she contributes to collaborative efforts investigating microbial and plankton processes in the North Pacific subtropical gyre.
