Benedetto Barone
Research Scientist
Benedetto Barone is an oceanographer whose research focuses on marine biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, and the role of plankton in global nutrient cycling.
His work combines field observations, oceanographic measurements, and ecosystem-scale analyses to better understand how biological processes influence carbon and nutrient fluxes in the open ocean.
As part of SUBSEA and the Hawaiʻi Ocean Time-series program, he contributes to studies investigating plankton productivity, biogeochemical variability, and ecosystem functioning in the North Pacific subtropical gyre.
