Esther Mak
Postdoctoral Researcher
Esther Mak is a microbial oceanographer whose research focuses on marine microbial ecology and biogeochemical cycling in aquatic systems.
Her work examines how microbial communities influence carbon and nutrient dynamics in the ocean through a combination of molecular approaches, oceanographic observations, and experimental studies.
Through participation in SUBSEA and Hawaiʻi Ocean Time-series cruises, she contributes to studies investigating microbial activity and ecosystem functioning in the North Pacific subtropical gyre.
